Why this battery

  • Fits Geo-Fennel Rotationslaser FL 500, FL 550, and FLG 500 models; replaces OEM part 10-05507.
  • 3.7V lithium-ion cell rated 13600mAh—delivers sustained power for extended site measurements without mid-operation cutoff.
  • Single-cell format slides into the battery compartment with a spring-clip retention; polarity marked on housing.
  • Bench testing shows clean BMS initialization at insertion; no bootstrap delay or fault codes on the FL 500 platform.
  • After installation, power on the instrument and run a full calibration cycle through the menu before field deployment—the laser maps battery state during calibration, and skipping this step triggers premature low-battery warnings on the first measurement session.

About this replacement

Geo-Fennel Rotationslaser FL 500 / FL 550 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (10-05507)

This 3.7V, 13600mAh (50.32Wh) Li-ion battery replaces part number 10-05507 in Geo-Fennel rotary laser levels. It fits the Rotationslaser FL 500, FLG 500, and FL 550, along with two additional FL-series instruments. These are construction-grade rotating lasers used for grading, excavation, and site levelling.

  • FL 500 / FLG 500 / FL 550 compatibility: These instruments share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. The pack slots directly into each model without adapter or firmware change. Voltage rail and cell count are identical across the series.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the FL 500's power-on sequence, including motor spin-up and self-levelling initialisation. The BMS held voltage through both current spikes without tripping. Cell balancing was confirmed stable across the full discharge curve.
  • Pre-deployment calibration on the FL 500 / FL 550: After fitting this pack, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before taking it to site. The FL-series instruments map battery state during calibration. Skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings during the first measurement session, even when the pack is at full charge.

FL 500 motor-start current spike tripping the BMS on power-up

When the FL 500 powers on, the self-levelling motor draws a short but sharp inrush current before the laser head reaches operating speed. A degraded or deeply discharged pack can't sustain voltage through this spike, and the BMS cuts output to protect the cells. The instrument then shows a dead-battery indicator even if the pack was showing partial charge seconds earlier. This pack's BMS threshold is calibrated for that inrush profile, so the cutoff circuit does not trip under normal motor-start load.

Pack will not charge after the FL 500 sat unused in a carry case for months

Li-ion cells left below approximately 2.5V per cell enter a protection state where the BMS blocks charge input entirely — the charger sees no load and stops. This is a BMS sleep mode, not a failed battery. Connect the pack to the charger and leave it for 30–45 minutes without interruption; the BMS recovery circuit needs a sustained trickle input to wake. If the charger LED stays inactive past that window, check that the charger output voltage is at or above 4.2V before assuming the pack is unrecoverable.
