This 14.4V, 1500mAh Ni-MH battery is the backup power source for the GEZE Econodrive EL automatic door operator. It fits the Econodrive EL actuator unit used in commercial and institutional buildings to automate swing and sliding door access. When mains power fails, this battery keeps the door cycle running so the system can complete its open and close sequence.
- Econodrive EL compatibility: The Econodrive EL draws a specific voltage rail at 14.4V to drive its motor and maintain controller logic. This battery matches that rail exactly, with the correct cell count and connector orientation to seat in the OEM housing without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through full-load door open and close sequences on the Econodrive EL bench rig. The BMS held cutoff correctly under motor-start surge and did not trip on normal actuator draw.

Battery backup not activating during mains failure on the Econodrive EL
The Econodrive EL backup circuit requires the battery to be at or above a minimum charge threshold before it will engage under power loss. A battery that has been sitting on the shelf or in a dormant unit for several months can drop below that threshold without triggering any visible fault. The controller will not switch to backup if it reads the battery as insufficient, so the door simply stops. Charge the replacement battery for a full 24 hours before installation and run a manual power-fail test to confirm switchover.
Econodrive EL losing door programming after a power outage
The Econodrive EL stores its door travel limits and open/close timing parameters in volatile RAM, which is kept alive by this backup battery during mains interruptions. When the battery is depleted, even a brief power cut wipes those parameters — the door may refuse to move or reset to a default travel limit that doesn't match the installation. Check battery voltage at the connector before assuming a controller fault; a depleted cell reads below 12V under load. Recharge or replace the battery, then re-enter the door travel calibration sequence from the commissioning menu.
