GEZE ECturn — 19.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (131473)
This is a 19.2V, 700mAh Ni-MH backup battery for the GEZE ECturn swing door drive system. It fits the ECturn automatic door operator used in commercial buildings. When mains power fails, this battery keeps the door mechanism operational for emergency egress.
- ECturn platform fit: The ECturn uses a dedicated 19.2V Ni-MH battery pack with a specific connector and cell count to match the controller's backup circuit voltage rail. Substituting a different voltage or chemistry causes the backup circuit to reject the pack or fail to charge it correctly.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through the ECturn backup circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted the charge handshake, held voltage above the controller's cutoff threshold, and completed a full door-open cycle under motor load without triggering an undervoltage fault.
- Post-install verification: After installing the battery, manually trigger a simulated power-fail test during a low-traffic period. Automatic door backup batteries must be verified at installation — a battery that sits uncharged for weeks before testing may not complete a full door cycle under load when it counts.
ECturn door not completing full open cycle on battery backup
The ECturn motor draws a significant current spike at the start of each open cycle. If the backup battery is partially discharged, its voltage sags under that initial motor-start load and the controller interprets it as an undervoltage condition, stopping the door mid-cycle. Ni-MH cells are particularly sensitive to this after sitting in a partially depleted state for extended periods. A new battery should be charged for a full 24 hours before any power-fail test to ensure the cells reach their rated 19.2V resting voltage.

The ECturn stores its door parameters — open speed, hold-open time, and force limits — in volatile memory backed by this battery. When the backup battery is fully depleted, that memory loses power during a mains failure and the controller resets to factory defaults. The door may then move at incorrect speed or fail safety force checks. After fitting a fresh battery, restore the controller settings via the GEZE commissioning tool and confirm the programmed values are retained through a second simulated power-fail cycle.
