- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the L601. The BMS accepted the charge IC handshake without fault flags, held voltage above 3.5V through the mid-cycle load, and tripped protection correctly at the low-voltage threshold.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle before resuming normal use. The fuel gauge IC on these phones calibrates its coulomb counter against the cell's discharge curve — skipping this step causes percentage drift on the new cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the GIONEE L601
This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity fault. When the modem or screen pulls a high current burst, a new cell with an uncalibrated fuel gauge can't accurately report the real state of charge. The phone's protection circuit reads a voltage drop that looks like empty, and shuts down. One full discharge-charge cycle lets the fuel gauge IC map the actual discharge curve of the replacement cell, which moves the cutoff threshold back to the correct point near 3.2V.
Phone won't power on after the battery sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge over time. If this battery shipped or sat unused long enough to drop below 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters a lockout state and blocks normal charging to prevent thermal runaway on a deeply discharged cell. Connect the phone to a low-current charger — a 5V/500mA USB port works better here than a fast charger — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The BMS recovery circuit trickle-charges the cell back above the 2.8V threshold before allowing a normal charge cycle to begin.
