About this replacement
Gorenje SVC180 / SVC180FW — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery (861789)
This 18V 3000mAh Li-ion battery replaces OEM part 861789 in the Gorenje SVC180 and SVC180FW cordless stick vacuums. It slots into the same battery bay as the original and connects through the same BMS circuit. Capacity is 3000mAh (54Wh), matched to the original specification.
- SVC180 and SVC180FW compatibility: Both models run the same 18V motor rail and use the same connector and BMS handshake. One battery covers both variants — no adapter or wiring change needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery under load on the SVC180 motor circuit. The BMS held voltage within spec across repeated draw cycles and tripped correctly on simulated blockage events before cell damage could occur.
- Dock charging habit for this vacuum: Do not leave the SVC180 sitting on the charging dock permanently. Continuous trickle charge through the dock accelerates capacity fade on Li-ion cells faster than on most cordless tools. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
The SVC180 motor pulls significantly more current when the filter is partially blocked or the floor head is restricted. Under that extra load, cell voltage sags earlier than the indicator circuit expects — so the motor slows and suction drops while the indicator still shows charge remaining. The battery is not faulty. Clean the filter and check the floor head for obstruction, then retest. A clean-filter run should hold suction through the full discharge cycle.
Motor cutting out mid-clean and then recovering after a pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a flat battery. When suction is sustained against a blockage or a clogged filter, current draw spikes past the BMS threshold and the circuit opens to protect the cells. The battery recovers once current demand drops — which is why a short pause brings the motor back. Check and clear the filter before the next run. If trips continue on an unblocked machine, measure resting cell voltage: below 15.5V on an 18V pack indicates a weak cell that needs replacement.
