This is a 3.7V, 2600mAh (9.62Wh) Li-ion cell for the Groove onn Medium Rugged LED Speaker (AAAGRY100006889). It fits the Rugged Speaker With LED Lighting variant that shares the same ICR18650 cell format. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a full charge through a listening session.
- Medium Rugged LED and Rugged LED variant fit: Both speaker variants use the same single ICR18650 cell format — 67.50 × 22.30 × 18.50mm — with the same connector and BMS handshake. The cell powers both the amplifier rail and the LED lighting circuit simultaneously.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the speaker platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, balanced the amplifier and LED load correctly, and the protection circuit tripped at the expected low-voltage threshold.
- Fuel gauge reset on first cycle: The Groove onn Rugged LED runs its fuel gauge off shallow charge history. After fitting this cell, discharge the speaker fully — LEDs dimming and audio cutting — before recharging to 100%. This recalibrates the gauge so the indicator reflects actual capacity, not the previous cell's worn baseline.
Audio distorting before the battery indicator reaches empty
At higher volumes, the amplifier draws a sharp current spike that the aged cell can't sustain without voltage sag. The amplifier clips when cell voltage drops below roughly 3.2V under load — even if the indicator still shows charge remaining. The indicator reads resting voltage, not loaded voltage, so the gap between the two widens as the cell ages. A fresh 2600mAh cell restores enough capacity headroom to keep loaded voltage above the clipping threshold during normal playback.
Speaker won't wake from USB charging after sitting unused for weeks
A deeply discharged ICR18650 cell can drop below the USB-C PD minimum acceptance voltage — typically around 2.5V — leaving the charger unable to initiate a charge handshake. The BMS blocks current to protect against charging a critically low cell through the standard fast-charge profile. If the speaker shows no response on USB, plug it into a 5V 500mA USB-A port instead of a fast charger — the lower current can trickle the cell back above the BMS re-enable threshold. Once the indicator flickers, switch to the standard charger to complete the cycle.
