This is an 18V 2000mAh (36.0Wh) Li-ion battery for the Grundig VCP-3829L cordless handheld vacuum cleaner. It replaces OEM parts 9178063524 and BP18020E. When the original cell degrades and suction weakens, this swap restores the vacuum to working condition without replacing the whole unit.
- VCP-3829L platform fit: The VCP-3829L uses an 18V Li-ion cell with a specific BMS handshake that the charger checks before allowing current to flow. This battery matches that voltage rail and connector configuration so the charger recognises the pack and initiates the charge cycle normally.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the VCP-3829L's motor load profile, including a sustained full-power draw across hard floor and carpet settings. The BMS held voltage above the motor's minimum threshold throughout and triggered no premature cutoff under normal operating conditions.
- Dock charging habit on the VCP-3829L: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock permanently. Continuous trickle charging on Li-ion cells causes capacity fade significantly faster than charging only when the battery is depleted. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.
Cordless vacuum losing suction before the battery indicator reaches low
The VCP-3829L's motor draws more current when airflow is restricted — a partially blocked filter or clogged nozzle pushes the draw above the rated operating current. The BMS reads this elevated draw as a potential fault and reduces output voltage to protect the cell, which the user feels as suction drop. The battery indicator may still show two or three bars because cell voltage under load differs from resting voltage. Clean the filter first — if suction recovers, the battery is not the cause.
Motor cutting out mid-clean and recovering after a few seconds
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When the nozzle is pressed hard against a carpet pile or held against a blockage, suction restriction spikes motor current beyond the BMS threshold and the pack disconnects momentarily to protect the cells. After a few seconds the BMS resets and power returns. Clear the blockage, check that the filter is clean, and avoid sustained sealed-suction contact with the floor surface. If it still trips on an unblocked path, check cell resting voltage — a healthy 18V Li-ion pack should read at least 18.0V off the charger.
