- Monthly discharge cycle for Citation 200 users: If the speaker sits on a desk and gets plugged in whenever it drops below half, discharge it fully — below 20% — at least once a month before recharging. Constant shallow top-off charging without a full cycle causes fuel gauge drift and accelerates capacity fade on the Li-ion cell.
Audio distorting before the Citation 200 battery indicator reaches empty
As the Li-ion cell discharges toward its lower voltage limit, the amplifier's supply rail sags. The Citation 200's amplifier clips under that reduced voltage before the battery indicator has stepped down to its final segment. This means distortion is a voltage event, not a capacity event — the cell still has charge remaining, but the amp can no longer maintain clean output. If this happens on a new replacement battery, run a full discharge and recharge cycle to recalibrate the fuel gauge to the new cell's actual voltage curve.
USB-C charging not starting after the Citation 200 has been left flat for weeks
A deeply discharged Li-ion cell can drop below the minimum acceptance voltage for USB-C Power Delivery negotiation. When this happens, the speaker shows no charging indicator and the charger sees no valid load. Connect the speaker using the original cable and leave it on charge for 20–30 minutes without interruption — the charge IC uses a low-current preconditioning stage to bring the cell back up to the threshold voltage before switching to normal charge mode. If the indicator still does not appear after 30 minutes, check the cable and port for debris. The cell needs to reach approximately 3.0V before the main charge cycle begins.
