Audio distorting before the battery indicator reaches empty
The Esquire's amplifier needs a clean voltage rail above roughly 6.8V to drive the drivers without clipping. As the 2S2P pack ages, internal resistance rises and voltage sags under amplifier load — even when the indicator still shows one or two bars. The result is audible distortion at moderate-to-high volume before the speaker actually shuts down. A fresh pack at 7.4V nominal eliminates the sag and pushes the distortion threshold back to near-empty.
Esquire won't wake from USB charge after sitting unused for weeks
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge at roughly 2–5% per month. Leave the Esquire stored without a charge for two months or more and the pack can drop below the USB-C minimum acceptance voltage — the charger sees a dead cell and won't initiate current flow. To recover the pack, connect to a 5V USB source and hold the power button for 10–15 seconds. If the BMS doesn't re-initialise within two minutes, the cell has dropped below the safe recovery threshold and replacement is the correct fix.
