Why the Demo eSlate triggers a low-battery warning shortly after a fresh pack is installed

Alkaline cells develop a passivation layer on the anode surface during storage. The false low-battery flag usually clears after the first moderate draw cycle — running the unit through a full diagnostics sequence is enough. If the warning persists past two full cycles, check the battery contacts for oxidation before swapping the pack.

eSlate shuts down unexpectedly during a Logic and Accuracy test session

The L&A test cycle is the heaviest sustained draw the eSlate produces — screen at full brightness, audio output active, and storage writes happening simultaneously. A pack that is partially depleted or has elevated internal resistance from storage may drop below the BMS cutoff threshold under this combined load even if the battery indicator showed adequate charge at rest. Remove the pack, measure open-circuit voltage with a multimeter — a healthy 12V alkaline pack should read above 12.4V at rest. If the reading is below 12V, replace the pack before the test session continues.
