This is a 7.2V 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for Hiab wireless crane remote controls. It fits the AMH0627, AX-HI6692, and XS Drive / XSDrive series remotes used to operate Hiab load handling and material handling cranes. OEM part numbers 378-6692 and HIA7220 cross-reference directly to this cell pack.

- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge-discharge cycles on the AMH0627 platform. The BMS accepted the cell pack without error flags, solenoid activation held stable voltage above 6.8V under load, and the remote held full function across repeated crane command sequences.
- Monthly charge cycle during crane downtime: Hiab crane remotes often sit unused for weeks between jobs. Ni-MH cells left uncharged for extended periods self-discharge to damaging levels. Charge this pack once a month during any idle period — cells discharged below 1.0V per cell may not recover on a standard charger.
Solenoid activation causing power dropout on a freshly installed battery
When a crane solenoid or relay fires, it draws a sharp inrush current lasting a few milliseconds. If the battery is at storage voltage rather than full charge, internal resistance is elevated and voltage sags hard under that spike. The BMS reads this as an undervoltage fault and cuts output to protect the cells. The fix is straightforward — charge the battery fully before installing it in any crane remote, and verify resting voltage sits at or above 8.4V before first use.

A new Ni-MH pack ships at storage voltage, typically 7.2–7.6V, not at full charge. The AMH0627 and XS Drive remotes read this as a depleted cell and trigger the low battery warning straight away. This is not a fault with the battery. Connect it to the Hiab OEM charger or a compatible Ni-MH charger and run a full charge cycle — resting voltage should reach approximately 8.4–8.6V before the low battery indicator clears.
