Highscreen Tasty — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (Tasty)
This 3.8V, 2200mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Highscreen Tasty smartphone. It restores power to a phone that no longer holds charge or fails to turn on. Capacity is 8.36Wh — matching the stock specification for this model.
- Highscreen Tasty fit: The Tasty uses a compact Li-Polymer pouch cell on a 3.8V nominal rail. This replacement matches that rail, connector footprint, and BMS handshake requirements so the charge IC recognises the cell and begins charging normally.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench. The BMS held cutoff at the correct thresholds — no premature termination, no overcharge trip. Coulomb counter initialisation completed within the first full cycle.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging for the first complete discharge-charge cycle. The fuel gauge IC on the Tasty is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. Running one slow cycle lets it recalibrate against the new cell before high-current charging begins.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Highscreen Tasty after a cell swap
A new cell has a different internal resistance profile than the aged original. When the modem fires a data burst or the screen ramps brightness, current draw spikes. If the fuel gauge IC still expects the old cell's voltage sag curve, it misreads state-of-charge and allows the phone to run into an actual low-voltage cutoff — which the OS reports as a sudden shutdown at what appears to be 20–30%. One full slow discharge-charge cycle resets the coulomb counter and maps the new cell correctly. After that cycle, shutdowns at false percentages stop.
Highscreen Tasty not powering on after the replacement battery sat in storage
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge during storage. If the cell voltage drops below approximately 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters a lockout state to prevent damage and the phone will not respond to the power button. Connect the phone to a charger with a known-good cable and leave it for 15–20 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until voltage climbs above the BMS recovery threshold — typically 3.0V — at which point the BMS unlocks and normal charging resumes. If the phone still shows no response after 30 minutes, try a different USB power adapter rated at 5V 1A or higher.
