- First-shift preparation: After installing, seat the scanner in its charging cradle and run a full charge cycle before the first pick-and-pack shift. Scan trigger inrush is highest when the cell sits near minimum — a fully charged cell prevents false BMS cutoff trips on the first active shift.
Cradle charging error on a new HH492 pack
A new pack sometimes triggers a charging fault on the HH492 cradle even though the battery is not defective. The cradle reads contact resistance at the dock pins, and any oxidation or debris on the pack's gold contacts causes the dock controller to flag an error. Wipe both the pack contacts and the cradle pins with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly until it clicks. If the error clears within 30 seconds, contact resistance was the cause — the cell itself is fine.
HH492 losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
During high-frequency scan sessions, the HH492 draws simultaneous current from the imager and the wireless radio. If the cell voltage sags below approximately 3.4V under that combined load, the wireless module drops its connection before the BMS fully trips. This looks like a network fault but it is a voltage event. Recharge the pack and monitor whether the drops correlate with low battery indicators — if they do, the cell is nearing end of life and needs replacement.
