A charging error on a freshly installed battery usually comes down to contact resistance at the dock, not a faulty cell. Dock contacts accumulate oxidation and debris, and a new pack with slightly firmer spring tension can seat at a micro-angle that breaks the circuit. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the cradle with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the scanner with firm downward pressure until you hear it click. If the error clears within 10 seconds, the pack is charging normally — if not, check that the cradle rails aren't bent past 1mm of deflection.

The HH492 draws simultaneous current from both the scan trigger and the wireless radio during high-frequency burst scanning. On a degraded original battery, this combined inrush pulls the cell voltage low enough to trigger the BMS cutoff, which drops the radio link before the scanner fully powers down. This replacement pack's higher internal cell quality keeps the voltage rail above the BMS floor under that combined load. If drop-outs persist after a full charge, check that the wireless polling interval on the host isn't set below 100ms — tighter polling amplifies the combined inrush event.
