Hot-swap battery not bridging power during ignition start
The Thor VM3 relies on the hot-swap battery to keep the terminal alive during vehicle ignition cycling. When the main vehicle power drops momentarily at crank, the terminal pulls from the hot-swap pack. If that pack is below roughly 7.0V, the BMS may refuse to supply current under load, and the terminal resets. This is not a faulty battery — it is a charge-state issue. Bring the hot-swap battery to a full charge before swapping it into the hot-swap slot.
Terminal not booting when running on battery alone
The VM3 requires a minimum voltage at the power rails before its boot sequence will initialise. A battery that has sat unused for several months may have self-discharged below that threshold — typically under 6.5V — and the terminal simply will not respond. Connect the terminal to vehicle power or an external charger for 20–30 minutes to bring the cell voltage back above 7.0V, then attempt a standalone boot again.
