This happens when the motor draws more current than the BMS expects, causing a voltage sag that reduces motor speed before the battery is actually depleted. The most common cause is a partially blocked filter — restricted airflow forces the motor to work harder, pulling sustained high current that the BMS interprets as an abnormal load. Clean or replace the filter first. If the symptom continues after a filter clean, check that the pack voltage is sitting at 32.4V on a full charge rather than reading low, which would indicate cell degradation.
Motor cuts out mid-clean then recovers after a short pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip — not a battery fault in most cases. When suction is restricted by a blocked filter or a partial blockage in the head, the motor draws current above the BMS safety threshold, and the pack shuts down to protect the cells. The pack resets after a brief cooldown, which is why the vacuum recovers after a pause. Clear any blockages in the floor head and clean the filter before assuming the battery needs replacement. If the cutout continues on a clear airpath, measure the charger output to confirm it is supplying the correct voltage to fully restore the pack.
