This 7.7V, 6100mAh (46.97Wh) lithium-polymer cell replaces the GM02XL battery in the HP Chromebook 11 G7 EE, 11 G6 EE, 11A G6, and Chromebook X360 11 G1 EE. These are thin-chassis education Chromebooks that ship with a flat Li-Polymer pack — not a cylindrical cell. Swap is needed when the original cell degrades below functional capacity or fails to hold charge entirely.
- Cross-model fit — G6 and G7 EE series: HP used the same 7.7V power rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol across the G6 EE, G7 EE, 11A G6, and X360 11 G1 EE chassis. Part numbers GM02XL, HSTNN-DB7X, and TPN-Q185 all reference the same physical and electrical specification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a G7 EE unit. The BMS accepted the new cell without tripping fault flags, reached full charge voltage at 8.68V, and the EC reported cell status correctly after one calibration cycle.

Why the Chromebook 11 G7 EE reports "Battery health poor" after a cell swap
The GM02XL battery stores its factory health data in an EEPROM on the protection board. When ChromeOS reads this data from a new cell, it compares the logged cycle count and Wh rating against expected values — and flags a mismatch as poor health. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Running one complete discharge-to-hibernate followed by a full uninterrupted charge rewrites the fuel gauge IC's learned parameters and clears the warning. After two to three full cycles, the reported health status normalises.

This happens when the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold under combined CPU and display load — even though the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. The gauge's state-of-charge map hasn't been calibrated to the new cell yet, so it misreads the voltage cliff. The fix is a full discharge-to-shutdown followed by a complete charge cycle with the lid closed and no active tasks. After two calibration cycles, the cutoff point aligns with the displayed percentage, and the shutdowns stop.
