This is a 3.7V, 1500mAh lithium-polymer replacement battery for the HP DSJ-A6x body camera. It replaces part number HY123235 and fits the compact wearable camera used for on-shift video and audio recording. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds enough charge to complete a full shift.
- DSJ-A6x platform fit: The HY123235 cell runs a single-cell 3.7V rail with a thin-profile lithium-polymer pack at 37.00 × 31.30 × 11.80mm. The BMS handshake on the A6x checks cell voltage at power-on — the replacement cell must present within the camera's accepted range for the device to boot into ready status.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through repeated power-on self-checks on the DSJ-A6x platform. The BMS accepted the cell on first boot without requiring a forced re-initialisation, and the camera reached ready status normally on each cycle.
- Post-install power-on check: After fitting this battery, power the camera on and wait for the ready status indicator before starting a shift. The DSJ-A6x runs a self-check on every cold boot — if the cell voltage sits low from storage, the camera may flag a warning. A full charge before first use clears this.
Recording cutting out mid-incident on the DSJ-A6x
The DSJ-A6x pulls simultaneous load from the video encoder, microphone, and — when active — a WiFi or cellular upload process. Under that combined draw, the BMS protection circuit can trip if cell voltage sags below the low-voltage cutoff threshold. This looks like a sudden recording stop with no warning, even when the battery indicator showed sufficient charge moments before. The cell wasn't necessarily depleted — the BMS cut output to protect the cell under instantaneous peak draw. Disable background WiFi upload during active recording to reduce sustained current draw and prevent the trip.

Lithium-polymer cells ship in a partial state of charge — typically 40–60% — for transport safety compliance. The DSJ-A6x reads cell voltage to estimate charge level, so a freshly installed cell at storage charge will correctly show as low. This is not a faulty battery. Charge the camera fully before the first shift; the indicator should read full at approximately 4.2V across the cell terminals.
