The Elite x2 G1 BIOS reads health data stored in the old cell's EEPROM. When a new cell is installed, the EEPROM contains no charge history, so the BIOS flags it as unknown or degraded. This is a calibration gap, not a fault with the replacement cell. Run one full discharge cycle to hibernate-cutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%, and the BIOS battery learn routine will write fresh baseline data to the cell's EEPROM, clearing the warning.

This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's voltage curve. Under combined CPU and display load, the new cell hits a voltage cliff that the uncalibrated gauge misreads as 20–30% remaining. The system interprets the sudden voltage drop as a critical low and triggers an immediate shutdown. Complete two to three full discharge-to-hibernate then full-charge cycles — by the third cycle the fuel gauge IC recalibrates to the new cell and the shutdowns stop.
