This is an 11.55V, 3500mAh (40.43Wh) lithium-polymer battery for the HP Pavilion 13-bb series, including the 13-bb0005TU, 13-bb0013nf, 13-bb0000nc, and 13-bb0069TU. It replaces OEM part numbers PP03XL, HSTNN-OB1P, HSTNN-DB9X, M01144-005, and related variants. Fits directly into the Pavilion 13-bb chassis without modification.
- Pavilion 13-bb compatibility: All models in this series run the same 11.55V three-cell configuration with the same Smart Battery connector and BMS handshake protocol. The battery management system communicates charge state, temperature, and health data to the BIOS over SMBus — any cell replacement must match this protocol or the system won't charge correctly.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge, full-load discharge, and reconnect on a Pavilion 13-bb unit. The BMS negotiated correctly on first connection, charge current ramped normally, and no fault flags appeared in the SMBus log.

Why the Pavilion 13-bb reports poor battery health immediately after a new cell is installed
The HP BIOS stores the previous cell's EEPROM data — cycle count, degradation percentage, and rated Wh — and compares it against the newly connected cell. A fresh cell with a full charge profile looks mismatched against that stored history. The system flags it as unknown or degraded even though the cell is new. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate cycle followed by a complete uninterrupted charge lets the BIOS overwrite the old EEPROM record and accept the new cell's data.

This happens when the cell can no longer sustain voltage under simultaneous CPU and display load — voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold before the fuel gauge reaches zero. The fuel gauge IC calibration is still reading the old cell's discharge curve, so the percentage shown is wrong. After the first full calibration cycle, the gauge maps to the new cell's actual voltage cliff. If shutdowns persist past three full cycles, check that the laptop is not also running a BIOS charge limit set to 80% under HP Command Center.
