Why the Spectre X360 BIOS flags a new battery as poor health immediately after install
The Spectre X360 BIOS reads learned capacity data stored in the old cell's EEPROM and compares it against the new cell on first boot. Because the new cell has no charge history, the BIOS treats the mismatch as a degraded unit and throws a health warning. This is not a fault with the replacement cell — it is a calibration gap. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted full charge gives the BIOS enough cycle data to write a new baseline. After that single learn cycle, the health warning clears on its own.

This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual chemistry. The IC is still using discharge curves from the old, degraded cell, so it miscalculates the voltage cliff and cuts power too early. The fix is the same learn cycle: discharge fully to hibernate, charge to 100% without interruption, and repeat once more if the cutoff persists. After two full cycles the fuel gauge recalibrates and the displayed percentage aligns with actual cell voltage — check that it reads above 11.0V at the point it previously shut down.
