BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting a new cell
The HP Stream 11 BIOS reads health data from the battery's EEPROM, not from live cell measurements. When a new cell arrives, the EEPROM holds factory default values that don't match the BIOS's learned profile from the old pack. The firmware flags this mismatch as "poor health" or "consider replacing." Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by a complete uninterrupted charge resets the learn cycle. After two to three cycles the BIOS recalibrates and the warning clears.
Stream 11 shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC hasn't calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The displayed percentage is still mapped to the old cell's degraded curve, so the laptop reaches a real voltage cliff — typically around 6.8V under CPU and display load — while the gauge still reads 25%. The fix is the same calibration cycle: drain to hibernate-cutoff, then charge to 100% without interruption. After two full cycles the gauge IC locks onto the new curve and the premature shutdown stops.
