This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's voltage curve. The reported percentage drifts ahead of actual cell voltage, so the system hits the hardware low-voltage cutoff before the gauge reaches 0%. Under full CPU and display load, the ZBook Fury 16 G9 draws enough current to accelerate this voltage cliff. Two to three complete discharge-and-charge cycles will align the fuel gauge IC to the new cell — after which the 20–30% shutdown stops.
