Phone reports wrong battery percentage after cell swap
The fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge curve from the old cell in non-volatile memory. A new cell with different internal resistance reads differently under load, so the percentage shown drifts — often reading full for longer than expected, then dropping fast near the bottom. The fix is a single full calibration cycle: drain the battery until the phone powers off on its own, then charge straight to 100% without interruption. After that cycle, the OS percentage tracks the actual cell state within a normal margin.
