About this replacement
Huawei Honor 20 Youth / Honor 20 Lite — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (HB426389EEW)
This is a 3.85V, 3900mAh (15.02Wh) Li-Polymer cell for the Huawei Honor 20 Youth, Honor 20 Lite, and LRA-AL00 variants. It replaces OEM part numbers HB426389EEW and HB426389ECW. Install it when the original cell no longer holds charge through a normal day of use.
- Honor 20 Youth and 20 Lite compatibility: Both models share the same 3.85V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell fits both platforms without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on the Honor 20 platform. The BMS accepted the cell, fuel gauge IC initialised without error, and charge termination triggered correctly at 4.35V.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging and complete one full discharge-to-charge cycle at standard current. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated baseline.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Honor 20 after a cell swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still running its algorithm against the old cell's stored discharge curve. The new cell hits a voltage cliff under modem or display load at a state-of-charge level the IC does not yet recognise as critical. The phone loses sustained voltage before the software low-battery warning fires. One full discharge to automatic shutdown, followed by a complete charge, forces the IC to rewrite its curve against the new cell.
USB-PD fast charge not activating on the first cycle after replacement
On the first connection after a cell swap, the charge IC may default to trickle or standard current while it checks BMS readiness on the new cell. Huawei's proprietary fast-charge handshake requires the BMS to report a valid charge state before the higher current profile is authorised. If the phone shows slow charging after fitting this cell, complete one full standard-rate cycle first. Fast charging typically activates on the second connection once the BMS has reported a clean full-charge event.
