Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Honor 4C after a cell swap
A new high-capacity cell has a different internal resistance profile than a degraded original. The phone's fuel gauge IC still holds the old discharge curve in memory, so the reported percentage no longer matches actual cell voltage. Under modem transmission or screen-on load, the new cell hits a voltage drop the IC wasn't expecting, and the device shuts off to protect the circuit. One full discharge-to-cutoff followed by a full charge resets the coulomb counter and stops the early shutdowns.

After that, percentage reporting stabilises to within a few points of actual charge state.
