- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a MediaPad X1 unit. The BMS accepted the cell on first connection, completed a full charge cycle without fault codes, and held voltage within spec under display-plus-WiFi combined load.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: After fitting this battery, run the tablet down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using the device. This resets the fuel gauge IC calibration against the new cell and clears the inaccurate percentage readings that appear immediately after a swap.
Tablet shutting down at 15–25% remaining after battery replacement
The MediaPad X1's display backlight and WiFi radio draw current simultaneously, creating a combined load spike the fuel gauge misreads as a voltage cliff. The old cell's calibration data is still in the charge IC when a new battery goes in. At around 15–25% reported charge, the voltage under that combined load drops faster than the IC expects, triggering a protective shutdown. One full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% rewrites the calibration curve and eliminates these early shutdowns.
Fast charging not available after battery swap
Huawei's proprietary fast-charge protocol requires the charge IC and battery BMS to complete a handshake during the first accepted charge cycle. If the tablet reverts to standard 5V charging after a battery swap, the handshake has not yet completed. Plug in the original Huawei charger — not a third-party USB-C adapter — and let the tablet charge from near-empty to 100% without interruption. After that single full cycle, fast charging resumes at the negotiated voltage.
