It fits the HumanWare SmartView Versa and SmartView Versa+, the handheld video magnifiers used for reading documents, viewing distant objects, and performing close-up tasks. Dimensions are 53.60 × 39.15 × 6.75mm — confirm these against your existing cell before fitting.
- SmartView Versa and Versa+ compatibility: Both the Versa and Versa+ share the same single-cell Li-ion architecture, voltage rail, and physical battery bay. The ICP6/34/50 part number covers both variants — same connector orientation, same BMS handshake voltage threshold.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the cell through charge and discharge cycles on the bench, monitoring the BMS cutoff response at low-voltage threshold. The protection circuit tripped cleanly at the expected floor and recovered normally on re-charge without needing a manual reset.
- Display indicator recalibration after fitting: After installing a new cell, power the SmartView Versa on and allow it to run through at least one full charge cycle before trusting the on-screen battery indicator. The device maps its voltage curve to the new cell during that first cycle — skipping it produces inaccurate percentage readings in early use.
SmartView Versa shutting down during USB data transfer to a PC
When you connect the SmartView Versa to a PC via USB, the device draws power for both its active display and the USB data link simultaneously. On a degraded or partially discharged cell, that combined load can pull voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold even when the indicator shows charge remaining. The result is an abrupt shutdown mid-transfer. Fitting a fresh cell and ensuring it reads at or above 3.7V before initiating a transfer resolves this.
Battery indicator jumping erratically at startup after the device sat unused
If the SmartView Versa has been stored for several months without use, the cell can self-discharge below the voltage point the device uses to anchor its indicator display. On power-up, the percentage shown may spike or fluctuate before settling. This is the device's voltage-threshold indicator attempting to recalibrate to a cell that hasn't completed a full cycle. Charge the battery fully to 4.2V, then discharge and recharge once — the indicator stabilises after that cycle.
