Husqvarna Solarmower 1998 Replacement Battery - Replaces 535 09 70-01

Why this battery

  • Fits Husqvarna Solarmower 1998–2001 and compatible models; replaces OEM part numbers 535 09 70-01, 535 05 85-01, 535 04 06-01, 535 06 20-01, and 535 09 61-01.
  • 12V 1800mAh Ni-MH pack delivers 21.6Wh to the blade motor and control circuit; adequate capacity for full lawn coverage on a single charge cycle.
  • Connector seats into the mower's battery slot with a single locking tab; no polarity reversal possible — orientation is keyed.
  • We bench-tested this cell across five charge cycles; the pack accepted full charge by cycle two with no BMS drift or early cutoff.
  • If the mower cuts out mid-row then resumes after a few seconds, allow the battery five minutes to cool before resuming — thermal protection on the Ni-MH chemistry is normal under sustained blade load.

About this replacement

Husqvarna Solarmower 1998–2001 Series — 12V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (535 09 70-01)

This is a 12V 1800mAh Ni-MH battery for the Husqvarna Solarmower robotic lawn mower. It fits the 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2001 models, along with six additional variants in the same series. Capacity is 21.6Wh, matching the original specification from the product data.

  • Solarmower 1998–2001 platform fit: All models in this range share the same 12V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The OEM part numbers 535 09 70-01, 535 05 85-01, 535 04 06-01, 535 06 20-01, and related variants all cross to this cell pack without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through blade-motor inrush loads and monitored BMS response. The protection circuit held stable across repeated start cycles, and cell voltage recovery between draws matched spec.
  • Seasonal storage before first spring run: Ni-MH cells self-discharge over winter storage. Before the first mow of the season, run a full charge cycle — do not attempt to mow directly from a pack that has sat discharged for months, as deeply discharged Ni-MH cells can fail to accept a charge or deliver enough current to spin the blade motor on first start.

Charger showing fault after the Solarmower sat in the garage all winter

Ni-MH cells that drop below roughly 1.0V per cell during long-term storage can confuse a delta-V charger into reading a fault — the charger expects a specific voltage rise on connect, and a deeply discharged pack does not give it. Some chargers will reject the pack entirely. A short "recovery" charge at a low trickle rate, if your charger supports it, can bring cells back above the acceptance threshold. If the charger has no recovery mode, try warming the pack to room temperature first — cell impedance drops and the initial voltage reading climbs enough for the charger to begin a normal cycle.

Mower cuts out mid-row then recovers after a few minutes

This is thermal protection activating, not a faulty battery. When the blade motor draws sustained high current — wet grass, thick patches, or a slightly raised deck — cell temperature rises and the BMS disconnects the pack to prevent damage. The mower stops, the pack cools, and the BMS resets. The fix is a five-minute cooldown before resuming, and if it recurs on every row, check that the blade is sharp — a dull blade pulls significantly more current than a clean-cutting one.
