IBM ThinkPad 570 / 570E Series — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (02K6533)
This is a 10.8V, 3400mAh (36.72Wh) Li-ion battery for the IBM ThinkPad 570 and ThinkPad 570E notebooks. It replaces a wide range of original IBM part numbers including 02K6533, 02K6546, 02K6551, and 02K6623, among others. The battery slots into the standard ThinkPad 570 battery bay and connects via the original multi-pin interface.
- ThinkPad 570 and 570E compatibility: Both the 570 and 570E use the same voltage rail, bay dimensions, and multi-pin BMS connector. IBM cross-listed over ten part numbers across these units due to regional and revision differences — the cell chemistry and handshake logic are identical across all of them.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a ThinkPad 570E. The BMS handshake completed correctly on first connection, the BIOS recognised the pack without prompting an unknown battery error, and charge current behaved normally through all stages.
- BIOS learn cycle after installation: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge to the hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle on the ThinkPad 570 and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
ThinkPad 570 shutting down at 20–30% remaining after a battery swap
This is a voltage cliff issue, not a defective cell. The ThinkPad 570's BIOS maps its low-battery cutoff against the old cell's discharge curve stored in EEPROM. When combined CPU and display load spikes, the new cell's voltage dips momentarily below that stored threshold and the system shuts down — even though the actual charge remaining is higher. Running two or three full discharge-to-hibernate cycles recalibrates the fuel gauge IC against the new cell's actual curve. After calibration, the shutdowns stop and the percentage readings stabilise.
BIOS reporting battery health as poor or unknown immediately after fitting
The ThinkPad 570 reads health status from EEPROM data written during the previous battery's service life. A new cell arrives with a clean EEPROM, which the BIOS interprets as degraded or unrecognised rather than fresh. This is not a fault with the replacement pack. Boot into the ThinkPad's power management utility and run a full learn cycle — one complete discharge to cutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100V. After one completed cycle, the BIOS rewrites its health record and the warning clears.
