A charging error on the K3 cradle with a new pack is almost always a contact resistance issue, not a faulty cell. The cradle's charge controller checks contact voltage at the gold pads on the battery before committing current — any oxidation or debris on those pads raises resistance above the threshold and triggers an error. Wipe the battery contacts and the cradle contacts with a dry cloth, reseat the scanner firmly, and the error clears in most cases. If the error persists after reseating, check that the cradle itself reads 5V at the charge pins with a multimeter.

During fast, repeated scanning, the K3 pulls current simultaneously from the imager and the wireless radio. On a degraded or low battery, combined inrush from both loads causes a momentary voltage drop that the radio interprets as a power fault, dropping the connection. A new 4800mAh pack at full charge holds the voltage rail above the radio's minimum threshold during those combined draw events. If dropouts continue after a full charge, check the scan burst interval in the scanner's configuration — reducing the polling frequency on the radio reduces the overlap between the two peak draws.
