When the MC70 powers up a scan engine or activates its wireless radio, it draws a brief current spike that can exceed the BMS trip threshold on a degraded or deeply discharged cell. If the device cuts out at exactly the moment a peripheral initialises, the issue is the old pack's internal resistance — not the device itself. Fitting a replacement pack with lower internal resistance eliminates the trip at the source.

After swapping in a new pack, the MC70's fuel gauge recalibrates its voltage-to-percentage curve against the new cell's characteristics. Until one full discharge and recharge cycle completes, the displayed percentage can jump or read incorrectly — this is not a faulty battery. Run the device from a full charge down to the auto-shutdown threshold, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that single cycle, the percentage readout stabilises to within a few points of actual capacity.
