- Cleaner 1080, 1020, and 720 compatibility: All three models share the CG-990 battery format — same 14.4V rail, same physical envelope (69.70 × 37.60 × 37.10mm), and the same BMS handshake the charger expects. Swapping between models is not supported — keep this battery with the unit it was installed in.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Cleaner 1080's charge and discharge routine and confirmed the BMS communicates correctly with the dock charger — charge termination triggers at the right threshold and protection circuits respond normally to motor-start draw spikes.
- Dock charging discipline for robotic vacuums: Do not leave the robot sitting on the dock between scheduled cleans indefinitely. Continuous trickle charging degrades lithium cell capacity faster than normal cycling. Charge the battery to full, then remove from the dock if the unit will sit unused for more than a few days.
Cordless vacuum losing suction before the battery indicator reaches low
This happens when the motor draws more current than rated — usually because the filter is partially blocked. A restricted filter forces the motor to work harder, which pulls higher current and triggers the BMS to reduce output voltage before the fuel gauge registers low. The robot then underperforms at what appears to be a full charge. Clean or replace the filter first, then retest suction — if it recovers, the battery is not the issue.
Motor cutting out mid-clean and then recovering after a short pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. The protection circuit cuts power when sustained current draw exceeds its threshold — most often caused by a blocked brush roll or clogged filter creating backpressure on the motor. The BMS resets itself after a short cooldown, which is why the robot resumes. Clear the brush roll, clean the filter, and confirm the robot runs on a hard floor without interruption before testing on carpet again. If the cut-out persists on a clear floor, check that the battery voltage after a full charge sits at or above 16.4V.
