Payment terminal rebooting mid-transaction after battery swap
A fresh Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance until it completes its first few charge-discharge cycles. On the MOBY8500, the combined current draw from the receipt printer motor and the contactless radio during a tap transaction can spike briefly above what the BMS expects from an unconditioned cell. If the BMS reads that spike as an overcurrent event, it cuts power and the terminal reboots. Running two or three low-load transactions first — chip-and-PIN without printing — conditions the cell and lowers impedance enough to handle the full combined draw cleanly.
Terminal not completing PCI boot sequence on new battery
The MOBY8500 runs a security integrity check during boot that requires stable voltage throughout. If the new cell shipped at low state-of-charge, voltage can sag below the boot threshold partway through the PCI sequence and the terminal stalls or shows a blank screen. Connect the terminal to its charging cable before pressing power — wait until the charge LED is solid, not blinking, then boot. The cell needs to reach at least 3.85V before the boot sequence will complete without interruption.
