Innotek CS-2000 / CS-16000 Series — 9.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (1000005-1)
This is a 9.6V, 700mAh nickel-metal hydride battery for Innotek remote dog training collars. It fits the CS-2000, CS-16000, CS-16000TT, and 1000005-1 collar models. The OEM part numbers covered are CS-BAT, DC-11, and 1000005-1.
- CS-2000 and CS-16000 compatibility: These collars share the same 9.6V cell stack, connector pinout, and BMS handshake requirements. Swapping between variants in the series works because the voltage rail and charge termination logic are identical across all listed models.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on the collar's onboard circuit. The BMS accepted charge termination correctly at peak voltage delta, and stimulation output held consistent across the test cycle without cutoff events.
- First-use on the collar receiver: After installing, perform a full charge before the first training session — Ni-MH cells in these collars can arrive partially discharged from storage, and the collar's charge indicator may not give an accurate reading until the pack has completed at least one full charge cycle.
Why the CS-16000 collar stops responding mid-session
Ni-MH packs in these collars have a steeper voltage drop curve than lithium chemistry. When the pack voltage falls below the collar's cutoff threshold — typically around 8.4V under load — the receiver shuts off to protect the circuit, even if a charge indicator still shows partial capacity. This looks like a dead collar but is actually a low-voltage protection trip. A full recharge resets the condition. If cutoffs are happening early in a session, the pack has likely lost capacity from repeated shallow cycling and needs replacement.
Collar transmitter shows "out of range" with a freshly charged battery
This is usually a pairing state issue, not a range or battery fault. When the receiver loses power — including during a battery swap — it can drop out of the transmitter's registered device list. Power the receiver on first, then power the transmitter on within 10 seconds. If the transmitter still shows out of range, hold the receiver's pairing button for 3 seconds to trigger re-registration, then re-test range from within 5 metres.
