A charging error on the dock does not always mean a faulty battery. The Intermec cradle reads pack status through pogo-pin contacts, and any oxide layer or debris on the battery's gold contact pads interrupts that signal. The dock interprets a broken handshake as a charge fault and stops the charge cycle. Wipe the pack contacts with a dry lint-free cloth, reseat the scanner firmly, and confirm the charge indicator clears within 30 seconds.

During rapid scanning sequences, the 700 series draws current from two sources simultaneously — the imager or laser and the 802.11 radio. The combined inrush spike can push instantaneous draw high enough to cause a momentary voltage sag. If the cell is partially discharged, that sag crosses the radio module's minimum supply threshold and the wireless link drops. Charge the pack to full before a high-volume shift and check that the battery contacts are clean — a resistive connection amplifies voltage sag under combined load.
