This is a 3.7V, 180mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the IPN Emotion W880 Bluetooth wireless headset. It fits the W880 directly and restores the headset's ability to hold a charge and operate wirelessly. Use it when the original cell no longer holds a charge or the headset dies faster than expected.
- IPN Emotion W880 fitment: The W880 runs a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion pack with a low-current BMS matched to the headset's combined audio and DECT radio draw. This replacement cell matches that voltage rail and connector, so the base station completes its BMS handshake without throwing a charging error.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the W880 platform. The BMS negotiated correctly with the base station on the first dock, and voltage held steady under simultaneous audio and radio draw without triggering a low-voltage cutoff.
- First charge on the W880: Dock the headset in the base station and leave it for a full charge cycle before taking a call. The W880 base needs to log the new cell before its talk-time estimate is accurate — skipping this step causes the indicator to misread remaining charge for the first few uses.
Talk time shorter than rated on the first few cycles
A fresh Li-ion cell does not deliver full capacity on cycle one. The W880's cell needs three to five full charge and discharge cycles before the electrodes reach stable capacity. During this period, talk time will read lower than the rated figure — this is normal cell behaviour, not a fault with the battery or headset. By cycle five, capacity should be at or near the rated 180mAh.
Base station showing full charge but headset cuts off after short use
A replacement cell ships at storage voltage — typically around 3.6V — not a full 4.2V charge. The W880 base station can misread this as "full" before the cell has completed its first proper charge cycle. The fix is to leave the headset docked for a complete uninterrupted charge cycle rather than pulling it off as soon as the indicator turns green. Confirm the cell has reached 4.2V before use.
