This is a 3.7V, 110mAh Li-Polymer cell that replaces the original GSP051230 battery in the JBL Inspire 500 wireless earbuds. - Inspire 500 fit: The Inspire 500 runs audio decoding and the wireless radio from a single 3.7V cell. The GSP051230 footprint is specific to this earbud housing — the connector position and cell profile are matched to the original board layout.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the Inspire 500 board. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, and the protection circuit responded correctly to both charge termination and low-voltage cutoff.
- First charge after fitting: Place the Inspire 500 in its charging cradle and allow a full uninterrupted charge cycle before use. The onboard fuel gauge needs a complete cycle to calibrate against the new cell — skipping this gives inaccurate charge indicators from the start.
Why the Inspire 500 cuts out mid-workout on a new battery
The Inspire 500 draws from one small cell to power both audio decoding and the wireless radio simultaneously. Under combined load — particularly during high-tempo audio with strong signal demand — voltage briefly sags below the BMS cutoff threshold. A new cell that hasn't completed its first full conditioning cycle has slightly higher internal resistance, which makes that sag more pronounced. After three to five full charge-discharge cycles, internal resistance drops and the cutoff events stop.
Charging cradle shows full but earbuds cut off after short use
This happens when the replacement cell arrives at storage voltage — typically around 3.6V — and the cradle reads that as near-full rather than running a complete charge cycle. The fuel gauge then reports 100% against a cell that is not fully topped up. Run one full charge from flat to termination in the cradle. After that cycle, the gauge resets its reference and the reported charge level will match actual capacity.
