Why the Tune 520 BT cuts out mid-call on a new battery
The Tune 520 BT draws simultaneously from the audio driver and the Bluetooth radio during calls. On a new cell sitting at storage voltage — typically around 3.7V — that combined draw can momentarily pull the cell below the BMS low-voltage trip point. The protection circuit interprets this as an unsafe discharge event and cuts power. Running one full charge cycle before making calls brings the cell to 4.2V and gives the BMS enough headroom to handle the combined load without tripping.
Talk time shorter than rated on the first few charges
Li-Polymer cells ship partially charged and don't deliver full capacity on the first cycle. The Tune 520 BT's rated talk time assumes a fully conditioned cell. Capacity builds gradually over three to five full charge-discharge cycles as the electrolyte wets the electrode surfaces evenly. If talk time is still noticeably short after five cycles, check that charge voltage at the USB port is reaching 5V — low input voltage extends charge time and can cause incomplete top-up.
