- VC4H-525 compatibility: The VC4H-525 uses an 18.5V nominal rail with a BMS that monitors cell temperature and current draw during motor spin-up. A cell pack that deviates from this voltage or lacks the correct protection circuit will either fail to communicate with the charger or trip during high-suction operation.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge cycles and monitored the BMS response during sustained motor load. The protection circuit handled the current spike at startup without tripping and accepted a full charge cycle without thermal flagging.
- Dock charging on the VC4H-525: Do not leave this vacuum on the charging dock permanently. Cordless vacuums on continuous dock charge develop capacity fade faster than those charged only when depleted. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
This is a voltage sag issue, not a capacity issue. When the filter is partially blocked, the motor draws more current than its rated load, pulling the cell voltage down faster than the indicator circuit can respond. The indicator reads state of charge, not real-time voltage under load. Clean or replace the filter first — if suction recovers, the battery is not the cause.
Motor cutting out mid-use then restarting after a pause
This pattern points to a BMS overcurrent trip, not a depleted cell. When airflow is restricted — blocked filter, clogged nozzle, or hair wrap on the brush — the motor labours and draws a sustained current spike above the BMS threshold. The BMS cuts power to protect the cells, then resets once current drops. Clear the restriction, confirm airflow is unobstructed, and restart. If the fault repeats with a clean filter, check that the cell voltage sits above 15.0V before charging.
