Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
This happens when the motor draws more current than the pack can deliver under load — voltage sags below the motor's operating threshold before the indicator registers critical. A clogged filter is the most common trigger: restricted airflow forces the motor to spin harder, pulling higher current from the cell. The BMS responds by throttling output to protect the cells, which the user feels as a suction drop. Clean or replace the filter first, then retest — if suction holds steady, the battery is not the fault.
Motor cutting out mid-clean then recovering after a short pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When suction is sustained against a blockage or heavily soiled filter, current draw spikes past the BMS protection threshold and the pack shuts output momentarily. After the cells cool slightly — usually within 10–20 seconds — the BMS resets and the motor restarts. Clear any blockage in the nozzle or hose, then check filter condition. If the cutout stops after cleaning the filter, the pack is functioning correctly.
