- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle before switching fast charging back on. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging is applied to an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Life B6 after a cell swap
The Life B6's fuel gauge IC stores a discharge curve calibrated to the old cell. When the new cell's voltage drops under modem or screen load, it can cross the hardware cutoff threshold before the OS percentage reaches zero. The phone reads 25% but the cell voltage has already fallen below the BMS floor. One complete discharge-charge cycle rewrites the coulomb counter against the new cell's actual curve and eliminates the early shutdown.
Phone not powering on after the replacement cell sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage. If this battery was stored for an extended period before installation and the cell voltage dropped below 2.5V, the BMS enters lockout mode and blocks current flow to protect the cell. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 15–20 minutes without pressing the power button. Most BMS controllers on this class of cell will begin a trickle pre-charge recovery at around 2.4–2.5V and allow normal charging to resume once the cell climbs back above 3.0V.
