Kress Mission Series — 20V Li-ion Replacement Battery (59003453)
This 20V 3400mAh (68Wh) Li-ion battery fits the Kress Mission cordless lawn mower range, including the Mission KR100 Nano, Mission KR101E Nano, and Mission Nano 600 KR101E. It replaces OEM part numbers 59003453 and KA3022. Swap it in when your original pack no longer holds enough charge to complete a full cut.
- Mission Nano series compatibility: The KR100, KR101E, and Nano 600 variants all share the same 20V battery rail and connector format. The BMS handshake protocol is identical across this series, so the pack communicates with the mower's motor controller without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge-discharge cycles on a 20V blade motor load. The BMS held cutoff at the correct low-voltage threshold and responded normally to simulated high-draw events such as thick-grass inrush spikes.
- Seasonal storage prep: Before putting the mower away for winter, charge this pack to around 50–60% rather than full. A fully charged Li-ion pack held at high state of charge for months degrades faster than one stored at partial charge.
BMS cutoff on thick grass or wet-grass blade load
The Mission mower's blade motor draws significantly more current when cutting dense or wet grass. If the inrush current exceeds the BMS threshold — which drops lower as a pack ages — the BMS trips to protect the cells and the mower cuts out suddenly. A new pack with fresh cells has higher current tolerance, which is why a replacement often resolves mid-cut shutdowns that were happening repeatedly on the old battery. If cutouts continue on a new pack, the issue is blade load, not the battery — reduce cutting width or raise the deck height.
Charger won't accept the pack after winter storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly over months. If the pack voltage drops below the charger's minimum acceptance threshold — typically around 12–14V on a 20V pack — the charger reads the pack as faulty and refuses to begin a charge cycle. Bring the pack indoors for several hours first, since cold cells read even lower than their true resting voltage. Then connect to the charger and check within 10 minutes — many chargers will begin a trickle recovery charge once the pack warms to room temperature and the voltage climbs back above the acceptance floor.
