Legrand 061892 / 2KRMT 23/43 — 2.4V Ni-CD Replacement Battery (H95420)
This is a 2.4V 2000mAh Ni-CD cell built to replace the OEM H95420 battery in Legrand emergency lighting units. It fits the 061892, 2KRMT 23/43, and 160SCKT2AX fittings. Voltage and capacity match the original spec so the charge controller operates within its expected parameters.
- 061892 / 2KRMT 23/43 / 160SCKT2AX platform: These three fittings share the same charge controller circuit and float voltage threshold. All three accept the H95420 cell format — same 86.80 × 22.40 × 22.40mm stick configuration, same 2.4V nominal rail, same connector orientation.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge cycle and a load discharge test. The BMS accepted the cell without fault, held float charge correctly, and the charge indicator moved from red to green within the standard absorption window.
- First test cycle after installation: Hold the test button for the full rated duration within 24 hours of fitting. This lets the charge controller register the new cell and confirms the cell accepts load before your next scheduled compliance test. Skipping this step leaves the controller working from stale charge data.

Ni-CD cells lose voltage during storage. If the resting voltage of a new cell sits below the float acceptance window of the Legrand charge controller, the unit treats it as a fault rather than beginning a charge cycle. This is not a wiring or installation error. Connect mains power and leave the fitting undisturbed for 12–24 hours — the controller needs time to trickle the cell up to a voltage level it recognises before switching to bulk charge. If the indicator has not moved to green after 24 hours, check that the cell terminals are making firm contact and that mains voltage at the fitting is stable at 230V.
Emergency light dims partway through a duration test after battery replacement
A freshly installed Ni-CD cell that has not completed a full conditioning cycle will not deliver its rated 2000mAh on the first test draw. The cell voltage drops under load before the full test duration is reached, causing the lamp to dim or cut out early. This is a capacity issue, not a cell fault. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle — charge for 24 hours on mains, then hold the test button through the full duration — before submitting the fitting for a compliance duration test. After that cycle the cell will perform to its rated 4.8Wh output.
