Legrand IP66 ECO1 — 4.8V Ni-CD Replacement Battery (061093 / MGN0842)
This is a 4.8V, 2000mAh Ni-CD replacement battery for the Legrand IP66 ECO1 emergency lighting unit. It fits fittings carrying OEM part numbers 061093 and MGN0842. The cell pack delivers the sustained discharge the ECO1 charge controller expects during a mains failure event.
- IP66 ECO1 compatibility: The ECO1 charge controller manages a fixed trickle charge profile matched to this cell voltage and capacity. Swapping to a different voltage or chemistry disrupts that profile and triggers a permanent fault LED.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through a full simulated mains-failure cycle on an ECO1 fitting. The charge controller accepted the cell, moved from red to green within the expected float window, and the BMS held voltage stable through the full discharge phase.
- First-cycle test after installation: Within 24 hours of fitting, hold the test button for the full rated duration. This confirms the new cell accepts load under real conditions and lets the charge controller register actual cell capacity before your next scheduled compliance test.
Charge indicator staying red after new battery installation
The ECO1 charge controller checks incoming cell voltage before entering float mode. A cell stored for several months can sit below the acceptance window — typically under 4.0V open circuit — and the controller reads it as a fault rather than a dischargeable pack. Leave the fitting on mains power for 12–24 hours without triggering a test cycle. Once the controller's pre-charge stage brings the pack above roughly 4.2V, it will shift to float and the LED will turn green.
Emergency light failing its duration test after battery replacement
A fresh Ni-CD cell does not deliver rated capacity on its first discharge — the crystalline structure in new cells needs one full charge-discharge cycle to reach full capacity. If the fitting fails a duration test immediately after a battery swap, it does not mean the cell is faulty. Fit the battery, allow a full 24-hour charge on mains, then run a complete manual test cycle. Capacity at the second test cycle will be measurably higher and should meet the rated discharge requirement.
