This is an 11.1V 4400mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E46, E46A, E46G, and E46L notebooks. It replaces OEM part numbers L10P6Y21, L09M6Y23, and L08M6Y21. Install it when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge or fails to register in the BIOS.

BIOS reporting battery health as poor immediately after fitting a new cell
ThinkPad Edge firmware stores charge cycle data and health metrics in EEPROM on the battery's controller board. When a new cell goes in, the BIOS reads that EEPROM as blank or mismatched and flags the battery as degraded — even though the cell is new. This is a firmware state problem, not a hardware fault. Run the full discharge-to-hibernate then uninterrupted full-charge sequence once, and the BIOS learn cycle rewrites the health estimate against the new cell's actual data.
Laptop shuts down abruptly at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated to the new cell's voltage curve. The OS reads a state-of-charge percentage mapped to the old cell's worn discharge profile, so the displayed percentage and actual cell voltage diverge. Under combined CPU and display load, the cell hits the BMS low-voltage cutoff while the screen still shows 20–25% remaining. Complete two full calibration cycles — discharge to hibernate-cutoff each time — and the fuel gauge IC recalibrates to match the new cell, typically resolving the discrepancy by the third charge.
