Lenovo ET980 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (D0223)
This is a 3.7V, 1200mAh lithium-polymer battery for the Lenovo ET980 PDA and Pocket PC handheld. It replaces OEM part number D0223. If your ET980 no longer holds a charge or powers on, this cell is the direct swap.
- ET980 platform fit: The ET980 line shares a single battery form factor across its PDA variants — same voltage rail, same connector, same BMS handshake profile. D0223 is the OEM reference number for this cell, and that match matters for the device's charge controller to accept the pack.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on ET980 hardware. The BMS accepted the pack without error flags, and the charge controller completed a full cycle to 4.2V before entering trickle mode.
- Pre-swap data sync — do this first: The ET980 holds open files and application state in RAM powered by the main battery. Remove the battery without syncing to your host PC first and that data is gone. Run a full ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center sync before you pull the old cell.
ET980 not booting after a new battery is installed
A freshly installed replacement cell often ships at a partial state of charge — sometimes as low as 30%. The ET980 boot sequence pulls a spike of current that the BMS will block if the resting voltage sits below roughly 3.5V. The device shows nothing on screen or loops on the splash screen. Plug it into the OEM charger and let it charge for at least 30 minutes before attempting a first boot.
Battery draining faster than expected during warehouse scanning
Barcode scanner LEDs and the wireless radio on the ET980 draw significantly more current than standby or basic data entry. Back-to-back scanning sessions can pull the 1200mAh cell down far quicker than the device's standby estimate suggests. If drain seems excessive, check whether Wi-Fi is staying active between scans — the radio alone adds meaningful background draw. Disabling Wi-Fi when out of sync range and letting the cell drop no further than 3.6V before recharging will slow capacity fade over time.
