The IdeaPad 100-15 BIOS reads health data stored in the battery's EEPROM, not from live cell measurements. This happens when the fuel gauge IC was calibrated against the old, degraded cell. The percentage shown no longer maps correctly to actual cell voltage. Under combined CPU and display load, the cell hits its low-voltage floor while the OS still shows significant charge remaining. Run a full discharge-to-hibernate cycle — without interrupting it — followed by a complete charge to 100%. After two to three full cycles, the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the new cell and shutdowns at falsely-low percentages stop. If the issue persists past three cycles, check the BIOS battery threshold setting — it should be set to 0% on this platform, not 20%.
