Lenovo IdeaPad U330p / U330t — 7.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (L12L4P63)
This 7.4V, 6100mAh (45.14Wh) Li-Polymer battery replaces the original L12L4P63 cell in the Lenovo IdeaPad U330p and U330t, including U330 Touch variants. It fits a thin-chassis ultrabook where the battery sits flush against the motherboard with minimal thermal clearance. Voltage and connector placement match the original spec exactly.
- U330p / U330t platform fit: The U330p, U330t, and U330 Touch share the same 7.4V battery rail, identical connector pinout, and the same BMS handshake protocol — which is why one cell covers all three variants. Swapping between these models does not require a firmware change or connector adapter.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a U330p unit and monitored the BMS through full charge and discharge cycles. The protection circuit tripped correctly at low-voltage cutoff and the charge IC accepted the cell without fault codes on reconnection.
- Post-swap calibration on the U330p: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge until the laptop hibernates at low-battery cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without interruption. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
Why the U330p shuts down at 20–30% charge shown
The U330p's fuel gauge IC builds a charge map against the old cell over hundreds of cycles. When a new cell goes in, the stored map no longer matches actual cell chemistry — so the gauge shows 25% while the cell voltage has already dropped below the BMS cutoff threshold under full CPU and display load. The laptop cuts power to protect the cell, even though the percentage on screen still looks safe. Running two to three full discharge-to-hibernate cycles recalibrates the fuel gauge IC against the new cell's actual voltage curve.
BIOS reporting "Consider replacing your battery" on a brand-new cell
Lenovo's battery health warning reads EEPROM data carried over from the previous cell — cycle count, wear level, and Wh throughput figures that have nothing to do with the replacement. The BIOS does not automatically clear this data when a new cell is installed. To reset it, enter Lenovo Vantage or the BIOS battery settings and run a full battery gauge reset, then complete one uninterrupted charge to 100%. The warning clears once the BIOS registers a full learn cycle on the new cell.
