It uses OEM part numbers 5B10W51869, L21M4P73, and SB10W51970. Voltage and connector pinout match the factory spec exactly.

Why the ThinkPad P16s shuts down at 20–30% after a battery swap
The BIOS fuel gauge IC calibrates its low-voltage cutoff map against data stored from the previous cell. After a swap, that map is stale — it predicts a voltage cliff at a state-of-charge that no longer matches the new cell's discharge curve. The laptop interprets a moderate draw spike from the CPU or dGPU as an imminent collapse and triggers an emergency shutdown. Running two or three full discharge-to-hibernate cycles forces the fuel gauge IC to rebuild its internal model against the new cell's actual chemistry. After calibration, the reported percentage and the real cutoff point realign.
BIOS reporting battery health as "Poor" or "Replace Soon" on a brand-new cell
The ThinkPad BIOS reads health status from EEPROM registers that carry over cycle count and wear data from the old cell's embedded controller — not from the physical chemistry of the new one. A fresh cell installed without a learn cycle will inherit the previous battery's degraded health tag. Open Lenovo Vantage, navigate to Power → Battery Settings, and run the Battery Gauge Reset function. If Vantage is unavailable, enter the BIOS power menu and trigger the discharge-reset cycle manually — after one complete discharge and recharge, the health flag clears and reads correctly.
